Delaware Drops 2-1 Overtime Decision at Drexel in Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Delaware men's soccer team concluded its 2021 fall season on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 double overtime loss to Drexel at Vidas Field.
Justin Ruth gave the Blue Hens the lead when he scored his second goal of the season off a Connor Fitzgerald assist in the 39th minute.
Delaware maintained its one-goal advantage until the 58th minute, when Kyle Tucker scored the equalizer for the Dragons.
The match remained knotted at 1-1 until Chris Donovan scored the game-winner off a Daniel Nesseler assist in the 102nd minute to give Drexel the win.
The Dragons held a 13-11 shot advantage, and including a 4-0 edge in the overtime sessions. Rex Twum, Pedro Barbolla, Josh Hesson and Ruth each attempted two shots for Delaware.
UD goalkeeper Gonzalo Bartoli stopped five shots, including a penalty kick save in overtime, in the Blue Hen net.
