FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Delaware men's swimming & diving team took a trip south Saturday evening for a competitive meet with George Mason and George Washington at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
Â
"It was a great meet for our men and our freshman had a great day, putting up some very good times while we were able to get some of our best performances out of our men," said head coach Pablo Marmolejo. "This was our first road meet and the team handled it very well. We are very happy with the results, but we still have some work to do towards our championship."
Â
The Blue Hens were able to put two times into the all-time top-10 and a pair of rookies broke freshmen records.
Â
Freshmen Simeon Sabev and Evan Frick were able to add their names to the history books with Sabev setting freshmen records in both the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly in 49.14 and 1:50.31, respectively. Frick set the Delaware rookie-best with a time of 2:03.34 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Â
Senior Bryce Ciecko was first to the wall in the 500-yard freestyle prelims with a time of 4:32.73 while sophomore T.J. Yaglenski had the best 100-yard backstroke preliminary time with a 50.72.
Â
In the 100-yard breaststroke prelims, senior Eric Veit touched the wall first with a time of 56.08 for the Blue Hens.
