WILMINGTON, Del. – The Blue Hen women's tennis team defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, 7-0, Friday afternoon to improve to 2-0 on the season.
"I was proud of how our players responded today, with a different scoring format playing singles first. They embraced it and never looked back," said head coach Pablo Montana. "We came out in singles focused and determined, and won all five courts. In doubles, we continued our momentum and won both courts playing on our terms. We will use this confidence as we prepare for George Washington next week."
The Blue Hens collected five decisive wins during singles play with Eliza Askarova, Jojo Bach, Isabella Montana, Julieta Honrubia, and Emily Gotkiewicz all defeating their FDU opponents.
Then in doubles play, Askarova and Sarah Whited swept their opponents, 6-0, while Viva Laas and Tayo Adetunji won their match, 6-3.
Delaware will take on George Washington University next Sunday, March 7 at the Elkton Indoor Tennis Courts.
