Femke Strien Earns 5th Career CAA Player of the Week Award

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware Field Hockey senior Femke Strien was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the fifth time in her career on Tuesday.

In the Blue Hens season-opener, Strien scored one goal on six shots and assisted another to account for three points despite Delaware eventually falling 3-2 to Saint Joseph's in overtime. Strien got the Blue Hens on the board in the second period scoring the first goal of the game for either team. After Saint Joseph's tied the game in the third, Strien assisted on an Ellie Schepens goal as Delaware regained a 2-1 lead in the fourth period, but just one minute and 16 seconds later the Hawks tied the game at two and forced an overtime period.

The 3-time letter winner for the Blue Hens now has career totals of 29 goals and 18 assists in 57 career games.

The Blue Hens will next face CAA foe Towson on Friday in Maryland before returning to Rullo Stadium on Sunday, March 21, against Temple University.
