Etxezarreta Earns Second Straight CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen freshman Oihana Etxezarreta has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week for the second consecutive week following her win at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate.
Etxezarreta posted an 11-shot victory on Monday and Tuesday at the tournament, carding a one under par 75-74-66-215 on the par 72, 6,057-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort.
Her final round 66, the second lowest round in program history, featured six birdies and an eagle on the 18th hole. Her 215 is tied for the eighth lowest three-round score in UD history.
Etxezarreta became the sixth Blue Hen women's golfer, and the first freshman, to win an individual tournament. Her victory was the eighth individual title in the history of the program and the first since Thitaree Sakulbunpanich at the 2019 Edisto Island Invitational. She has been the Blue Hens' top finisher in three of four tournaments this spring and currently leads the team with a 74.50 average round.
Etxezarreta also helped Delaware claim the Kingsmill Intercollegiate team title, as the Blue Hens fired a 295 score on Tuesday to finish with a 912 total. The Blue Hens finished first out of 12 squads, posting an 11-shot victory over second place Richmond.
