Balint’s Debut Earns CAA Player of the Week Honor

The rookie homered in his first-ever plate appearance
RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced Tuesday that freshman Mitchell Balint has been named the conference's player of the week after a debut weekend that included a home run in his first plate appearance and five hits in his first five trips.
Delaware opened its season with a Sunday doubleheader sweep of La Salle where the Avondale, Pa. native went 4-for-4 in his first career game, including a home run to right field in his first plate appearance.
Balint picked up a hit in his first at-bat of game two, for his fifth-straight base hit. All-in-all, he was 6-for-8 in the series with three RBI and three runs scored.
The Blue Hens turn their focus to Villanova, taking on the Wildcats in a two-game, home-and-home series that begins on the road Saturday at 1:30 p.m. before a Sunday 1 p.m. first pitch at Bob Hannah Stadium.
