Ludman tosses complete game shutout in game one
PHILADELPHIA – The University of Delaware baseball team split with Penn Saturday afternoon, taking the first game 4-0 and dropping game two, 9-1.
Game One
Junior Chris Ludman worked a complete game shutout, striking out eight, allowing just six hits and no walks in a 4-0 win.
Redshirt junior Jordan Hutchins had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double while graduate student Kyle Baker had a 2-for-5 game with a pair of runs scored.
The Blue Hens got going early as junior Joseph Carpenter drove home Baker in the first inning to give Ludman a lead before he touched the rubber. Carpenter drove in two runs in the win.
Ludman did not allow a base runner over the last three innings and worked four 1-2-3 innings in the game.
Game Two
Freshman Aidan Riley had a pair of hits, but Penn responded with a 9-1 victory in game two.
The Quakers jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first to grab momentum.
Delaware returns to CAA play next weekend, hosting Hofstra for a four-game set beginning Friday at Bob Hannah Stadium at 7 p.m.
