RICHMOND, Va. – After a 34-14 nationally televised victory in the Route 1 Rivalry, the No. 8 University of Delaware football team has earned three weekly CAA Awards as redshirt Senior Dejoun Lee, redshirt sophomore Noah Plack and sophomore Ryan Coe were honored by the conference Monday morning.
Lee earned Offensive Player of the Week laurels after his second-consecutive 100-yard rushing performance. He dashed for 109 on 14 carries with two scores while catching three passes for 41 yards. He made two major chunk plays, a 53-yard run and 41-yard catch en route to 149 all-purpose yards. He moved into 34th-place on the all-time Delaware career rushing list with over 1,500 yards in his career.
Plack was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week after flying around the field Saturday night, picking up a season-high and game-high eight tackles. Plack asserted himself early, with five stops in the first quarter alone. The hard-hitting safety nearly doubled his season total in tackles in the game.
Coe was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goal tries on his way to becoming CAA Special Teams Player of the Week. He connected on kicks from 38 and 24 yards while booting seven kickoffs that reached the end zone with two going for touchbacks. Coe was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra point attempts and is 17-of-17 on the season.
The Blue Hens have earned at least one CAA Player of the Week honor following each game this spring season.
Delaware will travel to Villanova Saturday for the Battle of the Blue with a CAA North division title on the line. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Villanova Stadium and can be season on FloFootball.
