Bakermans, Rothwell Earn CAA Weekly Honors

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware field hockey midfielders Berber Bakermans and Izzy Rothwell received Colonial Athletic Association player of the week honors, the league announced on Monday, Oct. 24.
Bakermans' received Co-Player of the week along with Monmouth's Annick van Lange. Over the weekend, Bakermans tallied six points on one goal and four assists en route to a 2-0 weekend for the Blue Hens. Bakermans scored a goal and was credited with the game-tying assist in Friday's win over Northeastern. Following Friday's win, Bakermans was credited with a career-high three assists in Sunday's win over Hofstra.
Bakermans is the first athlete to receive a conference Player of the Week award for the Blue Hens this season and is the first to do so since Morgan Rigual back on Oct. 12, 2021. It is Bakermans first Player of the Week award in her Blue Hens career.
Rothwell accounted for three points, scoring her first career goal, and her first career assist for the Blue Hens over the weekend. All three points came in the weekend finale against Hofstra as Rothwell recorded an assist on the game-opening goal, and scored in the 18th minute.
Rothwell is the second Blue Hen to receive the honor, along with Noelle Sabbagh, and is the third time the Blue Hens received a conference Rookie of the Week award.
The Blue Hens close the season with a non-conference road match on Sunday, Oct. 30 against Penn.
