NEWARK, Del. - Delaware's men's soccer freshman Adam Vik was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022. Vik earns the honor for the first time in his collegiate career after his performance against Monmouth on Saturday.
Vik recorded the third shutout of his career in the Blue Hens' 1-0 victory over the Hawks to keep their CAA Conference Tournament hopes alive. He had four saves in the match, including a game-saver in the 84th minute to keep Monmouth off the board. Vik becomes the first Delaware player to be named CAA Defensive Player of the Week since Renan Thomazo on March 29, 2021. He currently is tied for the conference lead in saves with 56. Vik's efforts also helped Delaware to their second consecutive conference victory.Â
Vik and Delaware head to Maryland for a matchup with the Terrapins, currently ranked No. 7 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, on Tuesday.Â
