It's Not Goodbye, But See You Later
10/30/2022
Grab your tissues, it's going to be an emotional Sunday. The University of Delaware volleyball team will be celebrating the senior class of two, graduate student outside hitter Leanna Deegan and senior defensive specialist/libero Eileen Gex this afternoon at the conclusion of the UNCW match.

Leanna Deegan: What about being a Blue Hen will you remember the most?
Being around the team — coming together in the preseason, the practices, the treatments, the trips. Those are the things I’ll remember most.
Eileen Gex: What about being a Blue Hen will you remember the most?
When I look back on these four years, what I am going to remember the most is all of the wonderful friendships I have created here and all the heartwarming and hilarious memories my teammates and I have shared.
Leanna Deegan: How has being a Blue Hen positively impacted your life?
Being a Blue Hen allowed me to experience so many new things and make so many new friendships. Being a Blue Hen will put me in a better position to succeed in my career plans and in life. Graduate school was not something I envisioned a few years ago. Delaware gave me that opportunity and I’m grateful.
Eileen Gex: What has been one of your most memorable moments as a Blue Hen?
It's so hard to pick just one moment, I think singing on the bus rides home after a great team win is a feeling I will always cherish.
Leanna Deegan: What has been one of your most memorable moments as a Blue Hen?
My favorite memories are really anytime we are all in the locker room, preseason, and lifts with Mesiah. And although it hasn't happened yet, I think Pearce’s team dinner tonight will be a memorable event.
Eileen Gex: Any parting words for Blue Hen nation?
I want to thank my mom for coming to every game. Being able to always see you in the stands was so special to me. I also want to thank Kim, Austin and Shawn for making me feel so believed in as a player and a person.
Leanna Deegan: Any parting words for Blue Hen nation?
I’d like to thank the team for being so welcoming and making my last year of volleyball so fun. If I had to give any advice it would be to enjoy it, have fun and cherish the moments you have, you'll make memories that last forever.
