Three Women's Swimming and Diving Program Records Fall On Day One Of Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Penn. -Â Mira Selling, Erin Shema, and the Blue Hens' 400 medley relay team of Shema, Mania Tasakou, Aislinn Mitchell, and Selling all set women's swimming and diving program records during the first night of the Bison Invitational.Â
Selling originally set the 200 IM Delaware record during preliminaries, then re-broke it during the finals with a time of 1:59.01 to finish in second place. Shema set the 100 back school record as the lead in the 400 medley relay, as she finished with a split of 54.59 to set the mark. Shema's time was part of the record breaking 400 medley relay time of 3:41.34, with Tasakou, Mitchell, and Selling also being part of the quartet, where they finished in first place in the event.Â
Delaware currently sits in sixth place with 260 points, ahead of Bloomsburg (104, and Rider (57). Bucknell (401), Fordham (318), La Salle (311), Connecticut (300), and Davidson (288) are ahead of Delaware at the conclusion of the first day.
Along with Selling's record setting performance in the 200 IM, Shema finished third with a time of 2:00.88. Cristin Earley (2:04.61, 11th), Aislinn Mitchell (2:05.72, 12th), and Erin Lillis (2:05.62, 18th) also had strong performances in qualifying for the finals.Â
In the 50 free, Anthi Lyra placed 12th with a time of 23.84, while Nicole Chiappa was 22nd with a time of 24.27. Lyra also finished in ninth place in the 500 free, leading the B final group, with a time of 4:56.60, the eighth best time in program history. Natalie Dobrzykowski placed 19th with a time of 5:04.47, while Bella Granetzke was 24th with a time of 5:11.44.Â
The 200 free relay team of Lyra, Kaitlyn Sullivan, Granetzke, and Chiappa placed seventh with a time of 1:35.14.Â
Alex Pastris had another big performance in the 1-meter dive, placing third with a score of 260.10.Â
Day two of the Bison Invitational is set to begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with finals scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
