Hoepfner, Miller Named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Seniors Grace Hoepfner and Grace Miller of the Delaware field hockey team were tabbed as 2021 NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction.Â
Hoepfner, an exercise science major, earns her third NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honor. She is also a four-time member of the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. Hoepfner started in all 22 games for the Blue Hens. The Yorktown, Va., native ranked fifth on the team with five goals while also dishing out two assists. Two of Hoepfner's goals came in NCAA Tournament play, where she scored the Blue Hen's lone goal against No. 1 Rutgers in the NCAA First Round (Nov. 12).
Miller, also an exercise science major, earns her fourth NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honor and is also a four-time member of the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The Mount Joy, Pa., native earned All-CAA Second Team honors, starting in all 22 games for the Blue Hens.  Miller ranked third on the team and tied for sixth in the CAA with nine assists in the 2021 season. Her three assists against Northeastern (Oct. 10) are tied for fourth all-time in program single-game records.
This year, more than 280 student-athletes have been recognized as NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction. The Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year. Ohio University and the University of Louisville placed the most student-athletes on the Scholars of Distinction list this year, with nine honorees each.
