Carroll Leads Field, Blue Hens Second at CAA Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. – Christina Carroll holds the individual lead while Delaware is second in the team standings following the second round of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship on Saturday.
Carroll carded the lowest round of the day and tied her career-low round with a four under par 68 on the par 72, 5,998-yard Reserve Course at St. James. She birdied the first, fifth, seventh and 10th holes while not recording a bogey on the day, as her 68 was three shots better than any other player on Saturday.
Carroll leads the field with an even par 76-68=144, one shot ahead of Charleston's Emma Schimpf who sits at one over par. Viktoria Hurd of Charleston and Deborah Spair of UNCW are tied for third place at two over par.
Lene Sperling posted five birdies during her second round 72, and is tied for ninth place with a seven over par 79-72=151. Oihana Etxezarreta is also tied for ninth at the tournament with a nine over par 76-75=151.
Lexi Dart is tied for 18th place with a 10 over par 78-76=154, while Alisa Khokhlova is tied for 21st place with an 11 over par 81-74=155.
The Blue Hens recorded the lowest team round on Saturday with a 289, and sit in second place out of seven squads with a 598 total. Delaware is six shots behind Charleston, which leads the way with a 592 score.
The final round of the championship will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
