Men’s Tennis Preview: Drexel (CAA Quarterfinals)

» The third-seeded University of Delaware men's tennis team opens play at the 2022 CAA Men's Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon when the Blue Hens take on No. 6 Drexel in a quarterfinal match. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at Elon's Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

» The Blue & Gold enter the CAA Championship on a nine-match winning streak and own a 14-8 overall record in dual matches this spring, the most wins in the CAA. Delaware is 4-0 against conference opponents, including wins over Charleston (6-1), James Madison (4-3) and Drexel (4-3) during the current streak.

» Delaware and Drexel met just last Friday in the regular-season finale as the Blue Hens defeated the Dragons 4-3 in Newark on UD's Senior Day. Delaware won a highly-contested doubles point before winning the first three singles matches, claiming victories at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 positions. In the CAA Championship, UD owns a 3-1 record against Drexel and this will be the first time the Blue Hens and Dragons have met in the CAA Championship since 2013, a 4-3 Drexel win in the quarterfinals.

» Drexel enters Friday's quarterfinal match with a 9-8 overall record and a 1-3 mark against CAA opponents. The Dragons defeated Hofstra 4-3 on Saturday to close out the regular season.
