Women’s Tennis Preview: Towson, William & Mary & NJIT

» The University of Delaware women's tennis team will play a pair of CAA matches this weekend, traveling to Towson, Md. to play the Tigers on Thursday as well as a neutral-site match against William & Mary on Saturday. Thursday's contest will start at 3 p.m., while Sunday will begin at 12 p.m.

» The Blue & Gold enters the weekend with a 14-4 record and is 1-1 against conference opponents. The squad went 2-1 on its Spring Break trip last week with wins over South Carolina State (5-2) and an exciting comeback victory over Charleston Southern (4-3).

» Freshman Alina Vasilenko was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday after improving to 15-0 with a pair of three-set victories at No. 2 singles in matches against CAA foe Charleston and Charleston Southern. She also won at No. 1 doubles against CSU to move to 13-1 on the year with partner Dominika Sujova.

» Towson is 4-9 on the season and 1-2 against CAA opponents. The Tigers have won three-straight matches with wins over Hofstra, Coppin State and Georgetown.

» William & Mary is 6-8 on the year and has won two of its three matches against conference foes. The Tribe most recently lost at VCU, but had previously beaten Drexel and then-No. 72 UNCW.

» NJIT is 8-6 on the season and will play against Sacred Heart on Friday afternoon before taking on the Blue Hens. The two teams met in a dual match back in November, with the Highlanders handing UD its first loss by a 6-1 score.
