RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen junior righthander Zach Klapak was named Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week on Monday following his outstanding performance during Thursday's 4-0 win over Northeastern.
Klapak tossed seven scoreless innings to earn his team-leading sixth win of the season during the shutout. He scattered just three hits while striking out six batters, and did not allow a runner past second base. His seven innings pitched were a season-high, while his six punchouts were one shy of his season mark.
Klapak was aided by three double plays, including one in the fifth inning when he snared a line drive and doubled the Huskies runner of first base.
Klapak is the third Blue Hen to earn CAA Pitcher of the Week honors this season, along with Wyatt Nelson on Mar. 21 and Joey Silan on Apr. 4.
