Delaware Men’s Soccer Announces Incoming Recruiting Class

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's soccer head coach Tommy McMenemy has announced his first incoming class as 12 newcomers will join the Blue Hen program this fall.
Dagur Baldvinsson (Gardabaer, Iceland)
Baldvinsson played with the Breidablik youth club in Iceland for three years, helping the team to a 19-10-3 combined record. He scored six goals in 14 matches during the 2019 season.
Caelin Campbell (Newark, Del.)
Campbell was a four-year starting goalkeeper at Newark Charter, where he was a two-time first team All-Conference and second team All-State selection. Campbell also played with the Sporting Delaware 2004 Boys ECNL and Delaware ODP teams.
Eddie DeMarco (Monroe, N.J.)
DeMarco played for the PDA Academy as a goalkeeper.
Sam Donnellan (Newcastle, Australia)
Donnellan played with the Newcastle Jets from U14-23, and served as a team captain for the U18 squad in 2019.
Petros Fokas (Nicosia, Cyprus)
Fokas was a member of the Cyprus National U15, U16, U17 and U19 teams from 2017-22, winning the U15 Thailand Tournament Championship and the U17 Romania International Tournament Championship. He played for Omonoia Nicosia U17-19 in 2018-21 before joining Olympias Lympion Men's last year.
Cristobal Granada (Allendale, N.J.)
Granada played at Cedar Stars Academy in Bergen, N.J., where he helped the team win the MLS NEXT U19 North Eastern League Division championship. He competed in the MLS Next Fest in 2021 when he scored two goals and added one assist. Previously Granada played two seasons at Levante UD in Valencia, Spain.
Mikey Johnson (Annapolis, Md.)
Johnson was a four-year member of the soccer team at Broadneck High School, where he was named first team All-County, first team All-State and second team All-Metro as a senior. He was also named a High School Regional All-American during his senior year when he set the school's single season scoring record with 18 goals and four assists.
Florian Phlepsen (Trier, Germany)
Phlepsen played for SV Eintracht Tier for the last five years, serving as team captain and leading the team to a Cup championship during the 2018-19 season.
Alonso Rodriguez (Salamanca, Spain)
Rodriguez spent the last two seasons at Division II St. Mary's University (Texas). He was named second team All-Lone Star Conference and second team USCA All-Region last fall, when he led the Rattlers with nine goals and 19 points. Rodriguez was a first team all-conference selection in the 2021 spring season after leading the team squad with four goals and ranking second with eight points. He played the previous two years at Fort Hays State, earning second team All-MIAA honors in 2019 when he scored six goals including two in the Central Regional Championship victory.
Seidu Shamsudeen (Bolgatanga, Ghana)
Shamsudeen spent the previous four years at Villanova. He scored two goals for the Wildcats during the 2021 fall season, after playing in four games while making three starts during the 2021 spring campaign. Shamsudeen was named to the Philly Soccer 6 All-Rookie Team in 2019 when he made 10 starts and scored game-winning goals vs. La Salle and Temple.
Adam Vik (Nesoddtangen, Norway)
Vik, a goalkeeper, sat out last season as a redshirt at Rider. He previously attended the Norwegian High School of Elite Sports. He was a member of Stabaek Football which won the 2017 national championship at the U17 level, and then transferred to Skeid Football in 2018 where he was a member of its first team that played in the second highest division in Norway.
James Watson (Chesterfield, N.J.)
Watson was a three-year starter at Notre Dame High School, earning United States Coaches Regional All-American and All-State honors in 2021. He also was a SJANJ first team All-State selection, Colonial Valley Conference Player of the Year and Mercer County Player of the Year. Watson was a New Jersey State Cup Champion with Draxler in 2018 and Modric in 2021.
