Five Blue Hens Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. — Delaware men's golfers Sparky Ariyachatvakin, Michal Bargenda, Hugo Kedzlie, Owen Manchester and Roberto Nieves have been named 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars, the GCAA announced last week.
Ariyachatvakin, a sport management major from Bangkok, Thailand, participated in all 11 invitationals for the Blue Hens this year, ranking second on UD with a 72.03 stroke average. He finished second at the Wildcat Spring Invitational at two under par, fired a seven under par at the Bash at the Beach, and was UD's top finisher at the CAA Championship by tying for 10th place at even par.
Bargenda, a computer science major from Motycz, Poland, also competed in all 11 tournaments for UD while ranking third on the team with a 73.77 average round. He tied for ninth place at the ODU Outer Banks Intercollegiate by finishing at two under par and carded a one under par at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
Kedzlie, a philosophy major from Spalding, England, participated in nine invitationals and ranked fourth on the squad with a 75.48 stroke average. He tied for ninth place at the Golfweek Fall Challenge by finishing at eight under par, while his final round 65 at the tournament is tied for the third lowest single round in program history.
Manchester, a history major from Irvine, Calif., averaged 75.85 shots per round while competing in eight tournaments. He finished at even par at the ODU Outer Banks Intercollegiate and Loyola Intercollegiate.
Nieves, a psychology major from Miami, Fla., concluded his UD career as the program's leader with a 71.71 average round and 29 rounds in the 60's. A two-time first team All-CAA selection, Nieves broke his own program record by averaging 70.58 shots per round this year. He was the Blue Hens' top finisher in eight tournaments, won the Wildcat Fall Invitational title and competed in the NCAA New Haven Regional.
Bargenda, Kedzlie and Nieves earned All-American Scholar honors for the second straight year, while Ariyachatvakin and Manchester were named to the team for the first time.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar status, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, he must participate in 40 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a cumulative career grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
