Men's Soccer Preview: Mount St. Mary's

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team opens its 2022 season against Mount St. Mary's on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.

What You Need to Know:

UD opens the Tommy McMenemy era with a home match against the Mountaineers.
Delaware and Mount St. Mary's are 2-2-1 in five previous meetings, but the teams haven't faced each other since 2005.
The game is the first of 11 matches at Grant Stadium this season.
The Blue Hens return eight starters from a year ago. Carlos Fernandez, who earned CAA All-Rookie Team honors in 2021, led the team with 10 points on three goals and four assists.
Einar Hardarson ranked second on the team with eight points, while Justin Ruth tied for third with six points. Aron Adalsteinsson, who made 11 starts in the UD backfield, was a third team All-CAA selection.
Mount St. Mary's went 3-15 last season.
