Mason Named CAA Offensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. –The University of Delaware volleyball senior outside hitter Lani Mason was tabbed as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week for matches played September 5-11, announced Monday by league officials.
Mason led Delaware to an undefeated week (3-0) by averaging 6.33 kills, 2.56 digs and swinging at a rate of .330 in nine sets played. The Chester, Va. native helped the Blue Hens snap the two-match skid in the opener of Winthrop Tournament Friday (Sept. 9) against Wyoming with a match-high 18 kills to go with six digs and two blocks in the straight sets victory. Later that afternoon, Mason followed with 19 kills, eight digs and three blocks in Delaware's 3-0 win over Winthrop. Mason closed out the dominate weekend with a 20-kill and nine-dig performance for the Blue Hens to secure the straight sets win against Davidson (Sept. 10).
On the season, Mason averages 5.62 points, 5.13 kills and 2.43 digs in 30 sets played. She leads the conference in points per set, kills (154) and kills per set and ranks among the conference leaders in points (168.5).
WHAT'S NEXT
Mason and the Blue Hens returns to campus and will welcome Northeastern for a weekend series Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18 to open CAA play. Both matches are slated for a 2 p.m. start inside Bob Carpenter Center.
