Donnellan Named Men's Soccer CAA Rookie Of The Week

NEWARK, Del. - Sam Donnellan of Delaware's men's soccer team was named CAA Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Sept. 19, 2022. The award is the first of Donnellan's career and the first CAA Rookie of the Week recognition by a Blue Hen since Einar Hardarson received the honor on Oct. 11 of last season.

Donnellan scored two goals in Delaware's win of George Washington on Sept. 13. The goals game him three over a two-game span and gave him four for the season. Donnellan became the first Blue Hen to score multiple goals this season, and the first freshman to do so since Justin Ruth scored two goals against Drexel on March 21, 2021. Donnellan is also the only freshman in the CAA this season to score multiple goals in a game this season. He also is currently one of seven freshman in Division I to score at least four goals this season.

Donnellan and the Blue Hens are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 6:00 p.m on the road against Lehigh. Their next homegame comes on Sept. 24 against UNCW.
