Women’s Soccer Preview: Elon and Towson

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's soccer team continues Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play on Thursday, Sept. 29 versus Elon at 7 p.m. The Blue Hens play Towson on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. on Alumni Day.

What You Need to Know:

The Blue Hens are 1-7-3 overall and 0-2 in CAA competition.
Delaware leads the all-time series versus Elon, 4-2-2. The last time the two teams met on Oct. 3, 2021, the game resulted in a tie.
Delaware leads the all-time series versus Towson, 17-11-2. Last time out, Delaware defeated Towson Oct. 21, 2021, 2-1 in Newark.
After leading UD in goals scored in 2021, Sara D'Appolonia has five goals and one assist on her resume in 2022. She's tied for sixth in the CAA in goals scored. Izzy Lane is tied for fifth in the CAA and leads the team with four assists, while Mia Reed has 45 saves in goal.

The Opponent

Elon (6-2-2, 2-0 CAA) ranks third in the CAA is shots with 133. Ashlee Brehio leads the charge with four goals, while Abby Fusca and Isa Murdock have three goals and two assists apiece. McKenna Dalfonso has started nine matches and has made 14 saves with a 6-2 record.
Towson (7-2-2, 0-1-1 CAA) is led by Nia Christopher who has eight goals and two assists for 18 points. Phoebe Canoles has a team-high five assists. Riley Melendez has started all 11 games at the goalkeeper spot and has tallied 34 saves with a 6-2-2 record.
