Women's Basketball Game Preview: Elon & North Carolina A&T

ELON, N.C. – Delaware continues its CAA road trip to North Carolina this weekend Friday, Jan. 13 and Sunday, Jan. 15. The Blue Hens will face Elon on Friday at 7 p.m. inside Schar Center in Elon, N.C. and then head to new conference foe North Carolina A&T for Sunday's matchup against the Aggies at 2 p.m. inside Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C.

What You Need to Know:
- The last time Delaware was out was last Friday, Jan. 6, when they opened their road portion of the conference schedule against CAA tournament finalist Drexel in Philadelphia. The Blue Hens suffered a 73-57 setback to the Dragons and is currently on a two-game skid.
- The statline at Drexel: Michelle Ojo paced Delaware with 14 points (7-10 FG) and six rebounds while Klarke Sconiers poured in 11 points (5-7 FG).
- Games played through Jan. 11, Delaware as a unit ranks 35th in defensive rebounds per game (28.9) among the national leaders. Among the conference, the Blue Hens lead the way in defensive rebounds along with ranking second in field goal percentage defense (36.7), rebound margin (3.2), rebounds per game (40.36) and three point percentage (33.8).
- Jewel Smalls ranks 23rd in three pointers per game (2.86) among the national leaders. Makayla Pippin leads the conference in rebounds per game (9.2) while ranking third in rebounds (129). Smalls ranks among the conference leaders second in three point attempts (107), three pointers (40), third in three pointers per game and fourth in three point percentage (37.4) while Sconiers ranks fifth in blocks (21) and blocks per game (1.50).
- This will be the 18th time Delaware and Elon will be meeting in program history, with the Blue Hens holding a 9-8 all-time record against the Phoenix. Both teams have won five games each inside Schar Center with Delaware capturing the last victory (87-65) last season on Jan. 30, 2022.
- The last time Elon was out was last Sunday, Jan. 8 against Monmouth. The Phoenix saw their losing streak extend to nine games after the Hawks claimed the 64-56 win in New Jersey. Evonna McGill scored 14 of her team-high 16 points in the first half. Raven Preston fell just short of her fourth double-double with 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds, and Lenaejha Evans rounded out Elon's double-digit scorers with 13 points.
- This will be the first time in program history that Delaware and North Carolina A&T will be meeting.
- The Aggies are currently one of two teams (Drexel, 4-0) that are undefeated in conference play and is on a five game winning streak. N.C. A&T will defend their streak and home court on Friday, Jan. 13 when they play against Northeastern before welcoming the Blue Hens on Sunday.
- The last time out for N.C. A&T was on Sunday, Jan. 8 when the Aggies headed to Hempstead, N.Y. to face Hofstra. A&T captured the 63-44 victory that was headlined by stellar performances by D'Mya Tucker and Jazmin Harris. Tucker had 12 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, three steals and four assists on 5-for-6 shooting to record her third double-double of the season. Harris recorded a game-high 16 points and added six rebounds, two blocks and two assists on 7-for-16 shooting.
