Women's Swimming & Diving Continues Hot Streak With Win Over Seton Hall

NEWARK, Del. - Delaware's women's swimming & diving team defeated Seton Hall, 207-93, in their first home meet of the 2023 calendar year on Saturday. Delaware improves to 8-0-1 this season, with their lone tie coming against La Salle.Â
Mira Selling led Delaware with three individual first-place finishes and a victory in a relay. She finished with a time of 23.61 in the 50 free, a time of 50.64 in the 100 free, and a time of 4:58.90 in the 500 free to claim the top spots.Â
Also in the 50 free, Nicole Chiappa (24.78) finished fourth and Peyton Rautzhan (25.19) finished fifth to round out the top five. Anthi Lyra finished third in the 100 free (53.10), with Chiappa finishing fifth (54.07). Lyra took first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.95, while Chiappa (1:56.25) and Bella Granetzke (1:57.51) finished in third and fifth place. In the 500 free, Granetzke (5:17.95) and Charlise Oberholzer (5:22.35) finished in fourth and fifth place. In the 1000 freestyle, Natalie Dobrzykowski finished in third place (10:40.28) and Oberholzer placed fourth (10:57.81)
Four Blue Hens took the top four spots in the 100 breast, led by Mania Tasakou with a time of 1:06.96. Jenna Leonard (1:07.08), Erin Lillis (1:07.81), and Marietta Gately placed second, third, and fourth. Three Delaware swimmers also took the top three spots in the 200 breast, with Leonard leading the way with a time of 2:24.72. Tasakou followed just behind in second place (2:25.48) and Lillis placed third (2:26.12).
In the 100 back, Erin Shema finished in first place with a time of 58.07, while Makennah Fickett (1:00.21) and Cristin Earley (1:01.44) finished in fourth and sixth place. Shema also won the 200 back with a time of 2:06.15, while Dobrzykowski placed third (2:06.83) and Fickett (2:10.29) and Earley (2:10.71) placed fifth and sixth.
In the 100 fly, Aislinn Mitchell finished in first place (58.03), Alexandra Misikova in third place (58.72), and Julia Cichowska in fifth (1:01.16). Mitchell (2:08.28), Misikova (2:08.28), and Cichowska (2:11.53) took second, third, and fourth in the 200 butterfly.
In the 200 IM, Shema (2:09.25), Mitchell (2:10.84), and Lillis (2:11.57), all took the top three spots.
The team of Shema, Tasakou, Mitchell, and Lyra finished in first place in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:47.06. Lyra, Chiappa, Dobrzykowski, and Selling took first place in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:28.95.
Julia Servas won the 1-meter dive with a score of 285.83, and the 3-meter dive with a score of 273.68. Ella Drazek finished second at 240.00 in the 1-meter dive and third in the 3-meter dive at 229.13. Rowan O'Sullivan placed second in the 3-meter dive at 254.48.
Delaware will celebrate Senior Day on Jan. 28 against Towson.Â
