Football Travels to Towson for Saturday Contest

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team plays its second-straight game on the road when it travels to Towson for a CAA contest on Saturday. Kickoff at Johnny Unitas Stadium is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on both FloSports and Monumental Sports Network.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware is now 6-1 on the season and atop the CAA with a 4-0 record in league play after a decisive 47-3 win at Hampton last weekend.
- The Blue Hens climbed to No. 5 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll and No. 6 in the AFCA Coaches Poll. It is their highest ranking in the media poll since being ranked fifth ahead of the 2021 season opener.
- The Blue Hens finished with 522 total yards of offense against Hampton with 295 passing yards and 227 yards on the ground.
- Zach Marker made his first-career start and finished 17-of-28 passing for 239 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing eight times for 37 yards and a score.
- Jourdan Townsend finished with 185 all-purpose yards, returning a punt 82 yards for a touchdown while also leading the receiving corps with three catches for 88 yards.
- Marcus Yarns had two more rushing touchdowns giving him 11 total touchdowns on the season which ranks fifth nationally. He is also fourth with 8.38 yards per carry.
- Delaware's defense has only allowed 104 total passing yards in each of the past two games and not allowed an offensive touchdown in 10-straight quarters. The Blue Hens are in the top 20 nationally with 14 takeaways on the season.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
- Towson enters the matchup with a 3-4 overall record and a 2-2 mark in CAA play with road victories over ranked opponents in New Hampshire (54-51 OT) and William & Mary (31-24).
- The offense is averaging 24.0 ppg and 360.0 ypg of total offense, while the defense is allowing 30.0 ppg and 388.0 total yards to opponents.
- Nathan Kent has passed for 1,354 yards with a 59-percent completion percentage. He has accounted for 13 total touchdowns and thrown five interceptions.
- Devin Matthews is averaging 61.0 rush ypg and found the end zone six times to lead the ground attack.
- Five different receivers have caught touchdown passes, led by Carter Runyon who has three scoring grabs and averages 45.1 receiving ypg.
- Xavier Terry leads the defense with 43 tackles while Robert Javier is tied for the CAA lead with three interceptions. Three other defenders have registered at least 3.0 sacks on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
- Overall, Delaware holds a 13-9 series advantage against Towson, with a 4-4 mark on the Tigers' home turf.
- Last season, Delaware came away with a 24-10 victory at Delaware Stadium. Kyron Cumby ran for 100 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown, and Chandler Harvin hauled in a 74-yard scoring grab as part of his 105-yard receiving day.
- Nolan Henderson passed for 368 yards and two touchdowns, while Johnny Buchanan led the defense with 11 tackles.
