Women’s Basketball Continues Homestand And Welcomes Lehigh Tuesday Night

NEWARK, Del. – As part of the two-game homestand to open the 2023-24 season, the University of Delaware women's basketball team will welcome Lehigh (2-0) Tuesday evening inside Bob Carpenter Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast simultaneously on FloHoops and Delmarva Sports Network.
This will be the 30th meeting in program history that the Blue Hens and the Mountain Hawk, the first time in Newark in 30 years dating back to 1993-94. This will also be the second time head coaches Sarah Jenkins and Addie Micir will be meeting at the helms of their respective programs, with Coach Jenkins holding the 1-0 edge.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware opened the 2023-24 campaign last Thursday (Nov. 9) at home against Longwood. The Blue Hens walked away with a dominating 26-point victory, 81-55, over the Lancers.
- Five double-digit scorers led the way as four of the five Hens rocking the Blue & Gold for the first time showed out in front of the First State crowd.
- Chloe Wilson finished with 18 points while Ande'a Cherisier and Darrionna Howard followed by pouring in 13, Tara Cousins had 12 and Sydney Boone added 11.
- A trio of Hens pulled down double-digit boards in Wilson and Howard grabbing 12 and Sconiers with 10.
- With her impressive performance in her collegiate debut, Howard was named CAA Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon.
- Howard has made her mark among the conference leaders by leading the league in defensive rebounds per game (9.0, tied for 1st). She also holds impressive rankings, standing tied for second in rebounds per game (12.0), tied for third in steals per game (3.0), and sixth in field goal percentage (62.5).
- On a national scale, Howard secured the ninth spot in defensive rebounds per game, the 21st position in rebounds per game, and a 28th ranking in double-doubles.
- Delaware will be looking to open the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 season where the squad opened the year 3-0.
- Lehigh enters Tuesday's matchup 2-0 after capturing a 78-42 home victory over East Stroudsburg (Nov. 6) and a 62-50 road win at Stonehill on Saturday (Nov. 11).
- Lehigh had three players in double digits against the Skyhawks with Lily Fandre recording the first double-double of her career after scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds.
- Meghan O'Brien scored 12 points, and Jamie Behar, who went 4-for-4 from the field, finished with 10 points.
- The Mountain Hawks were picked fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, receiving a total of 111 points.
- Lehigh finished as the third seed last season. The Mountain Hawks made it to the Patriot League semifinal last year but were ultimately defeated by Holy Cross.
- Delaware and Lehigh last met in Bethlehem, Pa. resulting in Delaware's 79-67 road win over the Mountain Hawks.
- The win was highlighted by Sconiers' career-high 29 points on an efficient 83.8 percent from the field (10-12) to go with 11 rebounds.
- Cousins was right behind Sconiers with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
- Nakiyah Mays-Prince (six rebounds, five assists, three steals), Mia Yanogacio (two assists) and Michelle Ojo (four rebounds, one steal) all saw action off the bench.
- Ella Stemmer scored 14 points in 28 minutes of action for Lehigh.
- The last time Delaware and Lehigh met inside the Bob Carpenter Center was 30 years ago (Jan. 5, 1994) where the Blue Hens captured the 69-57 home victory.
