Women's Basketball Set To Close Out Road Non-Conference Slate At Delaware State

DOVER, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team will close out its three-game road trip and its non-conference road slate Thursday afternoon, Dec. 14, against in-state foe Delaware State in Dover, Del. inside Memorial Hall. The Route 1 Rivalry, sponsored by DE529, trophy and in-state bragging rights is on the line as tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on YouTube.

- Delaware's last time out was last Thursday, Dec. 14, against Temple in Philadelphia.
- The Blue Hens suffered a 72-65 road setback to the Owls, extending the losing streak to three games for the second time this year while moving to a 4-6 mark on the young season.
- A trio of double digit scorers paced the Blue Hens with Sydney Boone leading all scorers with 16.
- Boone added four rebounds to her stat line while Nakiyah Mays-Prince followed with a season-best 13 points and four rebounds in 26 minutes of action off the bench.

- As of Dec. 19, nationwide, Cousins stands out, ranking 42nd in three-pointers per game (2.70), 50th in three-point attempts (74), and 55th in three-pointers made (27).
- Cousins' stellar performance has secured her the top three spots in all three statistical categories within the conference.
- Wilson's national standing is also notable, holding the 18th position in free throw attempts (68) and 19th in free throws (54), securing the top spot in both statistical categories in the CAA.
- As a unit, Delaware ranks 60th in defensive rebounds per game (28.3) in the nation, fourth in the CAA; 69th in three-point percentage (34.8) and third in the conference.
- Delaware State will enter Thursday's game 3-8 on the young season.
- The last time out for the Hornets was Sunday, Dec. 17 when the Hornets welcomed New Jersey City.
- DSU opened its four-game homestand and walked away with a commanding 91-52 victory over the visiting Gothic Knights.
- Helping the Hornets snap a two-game skid were four double digit scorers led by Savannah Brooks, who had 22 points and eight rebounds.
- Tyshonne Tollie added 18 points and two steals, Ja-Naiah Perkins-Jackson helped out with 17 points and Kiarra Mcelrath chipped in 15 points.
- This will be the 15th meeting between both teams with the Blue Hens holding the 13-1 record and undefeated inside Memorial Hall with a 6-0 mark.
- In the last 10 matchups, the Blue Hens have prevailed, victorious in nine games over the Hornets.
- The last time Delaware and Delaware State met was last season in Newark.
- The Blue Hens captured the dominating 74-52 victory and hoisted up the Route 1 Rivalry trophy in front of the 1,111 adoring fans inside Bob Carpenter Center on Nov. 30, 2022.
- Klarke Sconiers finished the game with a double-double performance, 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Mays-Prince followed with 10 points, five assists, four rebounds, and four steals helping the Blue Hens to victory.
