WILMINGTON, Del. – Delaware women's tennis (5-2) picked up its fourth-straight win Friday afternoon at Delcastle Tennis Center with a 6-1 decision against St. John's (5-4).
"Solid win for the ladies and this was a total team effort on all 6 courts," Director of Tennis Pablo Montana said. "We are doing a great job digging deep when we need to and we are taking our chances and being bold on the big points. We will continue running to the roar as we prepare for Monmouth on Sunday."
The Blue Hens picked up wins in first and third doubles to clinch the point before the second flight finished. Sixth-ranked Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Eliza Askarova move to 15-1 overall and 6-0 during the spring season.
Abidullina, Toni Nelson, and Isabella Montana each tallied a straight-set decision for the Hens. Askarova won despite a second set loss, while rookie Maryia Hrynashka overcame a first set loss.
Delaware heads to the Garden State on Sunday to take on CAA newcomer Monmouth for its first league match of the campaign.
