Record-Setting Night Puts Women's Swimming & Diving In Second Place After Day One Of CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. - The Delaware women's swimming & diving program completed a record-setting night in day one of the CAA Championships to put themselves in a tie for second place with UNCW with 68 points. The 800 freestyle relay team of Erin Shema, Anthi Lyra, Natalie Dobrzykowski, and Mira Selling took home the conference championship with a Delaware program record time of 7:12.05. It's Delaware's second ever 800 free relay conference championship ever, and their first since the team of Sarah Peffer, Meredith Law, Sara Reed, and Jill Fitzgerald took the title in 2004 with a time of 7:35.69.

The relay team of Shema, Mania Tasakou, Aislinn Mitchell, and Selling finished in fifth place in the 200-medley, setting a program record with a time of 1:40.37.

The Blue Hens only trail William & Mary by just four points. Delaware leads Northeastern (60 points), Towson (58 points), Drexel (54 points), and Monmouth and Stony Brook (46 points). Tomorrow's preliminaries begin at 10:00 a.m., while diving preliminaries begin at 12:30 p.m. Finals are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
