Women’s Tennis Dominates Temple for 11th-Straight Win

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Delaware women's tennis moves to 12-2 on the season after a dominating 6-1 win over Temple (9-2) for its 11^th-straight win of the season on Wednesday. The victory snaps the Owls' eight-match win streak.

"Temple is a solid team and we handled them on all courts today, despite the tough conditions, and I think that says a lot" captain Toni Nelson said after the victory. "We are having a lot of fun and our team is closer than ever."

Co-captain Julieta Honrubia echoed the statements of Nelson and credits the Hens' win streak to the culture the team has developed off the court.

"The connection that we have as a group is great," Honrubia said. "Knowing that your teammates are giving it all and that you're giving it all for them has pushed us."

Despite just the second loss of the year for the Hens' nationally ranked duo of Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Eliza Askarova in the top spot, Delaware clinched the doubles point with 6-3 and 6-4 decisions in the second and third slots, respectively.

Abidullina rebounded with a quick singles win to push the Blue & Gold up 2-0. Four more straight-set decisions rolled in to cement the dominant performance.

UD returns to match action at William & Mary on Sunday for another CAA matchup.
