Men’s Tennis Tripped Up at #46 Penn
4/2/2023 10:09:00 PM | Men's Tennis
PHILADELPHIA – Delaware men's tennis (11-7) fell in the City of Brotherly Love to the No. 46 Penn Quakers (9-7), 4-1, on Sunday.
"Today we were right there with the No. 46 team in the country," Assistant Coach Nate Perrone said. "I'm incredibly proud of the way our guys went out there and battled. Getting the doubles point against a team like this was huge and is only going to give us confidence for the tough matches to come.
"In singles we were right there and up on a few courts still playing. It came down to one or two courts that changed the outcome of the match. This doesn't surprise me. I know what this team is capable of. We are excited for a great opportunity against St. Joes on Wednesday."
In typical UD fashion, the Hens went ahead early earning the doubles point with wins in the first and third slots.
Singles play started and saw the Quakers snatch four-straight wins to clinch the match.
Delaware is set to host Saint Joseph's on Wednesday at the Delaware Fieldhouse Courts at 3 p.m.
