2022-2023 Women’s Swimming & Diving Year In Review

Newark, Del. – The 2022-2023 Delaware women's swimming & diving program concluded as one of the most historic seasons in program history. Delaware finished 9-0-1 in dual meets, placed fourth in the final rankings at the CAA Conference Championship, and set 12 program records. It's the third time in program history they completed the regular season without being defeated in dual meets (also, 1980-1981, 13-0, and 1981-1982, 12-0). Their 186.50-113.50 victory over Towson on Jan. 28 was also a Senior Day win.
Meet-By-Meet
Delaware opened the season with four consecutive victories in dual meets, including on their home and season opener on Oct. 8 against UMBC and Johns Hopkins. They had their only tie of the season against La Salle on Nov. 11, but won every dual meet the rest of the way and finished with nine wins. Along the way, Delaware defeated CAA opponents William & Mary, Drexel, and Towson.
During the Bucknell Invite, the Blue Hens finished with 1101.5 points, behind host Bucknell (1312) and Fordham (1151.5) and ahead of Connecticut (1055.5), La Salle (984), Davidson (936.5), Bloomsburg (266), and Rider (94). Delaware medaled in 13 events during the weekend.
CAA Championship
At the Conference Championships, Delaware finished in fourth place in the final team rankings, while Mira Selling was named Most Outstanding Swimmer for the second straight year. She is the first CAA athlete to win outright Swimmer of the Meet in two straight years since Ashley Danner of George Mason in 2009-2010.
Delaware medaled in nine events, including winning conference championships in the 200 IM, 200 free, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, and 1-meter dive. Selling, Anthi Lyra, Natalie Dobrzykowski, and Erin Shema set the all-time CAA and CAA Championship Meet record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:18.95, while Selling set the 200 IM all-time CAA Championship Meet record at 1:58.08.

Postseason
Julia Servas competed in the 1-meter and 3-meter at NCAA Diving Zone Championships. Nicole Chiappa, Cristin Earley, Lyra, Mitchell, Shema, and Tasakou all competed at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, where Mitchell and Tasakou set program records in the 100 fly and 200 breast and Delaware finished in 23rd.
Academic Achievements
Delaware was selected to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2022 semester. Teams received the honor on the basis of their Fall 2022 team grade point averages and represent 19,426 student-athletes. The women finished the semester with a GPA of 3.50 and Jordynn Park, Peyton Rautzhan, Alexandra Misikova, Shema, Earley, Dobrzykowski, and Kaitlyn Sullivan all finished the semester with GPAs of 4.0. The women have received the honor in all nine semesters Pablo Marmolejo has been the head coach. Dobrzykowski, Earley, Rautzhan, and Sullivan were named to the 2023 Academic All-District Women's Swimming & Diving Team.
2022-2023 CAA Weekly/Monthly Awards
Alex Pastris was named CAA Rookie Diver of the Month for October and November.
Selling was named CAA Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 11, Nov. 22, Jan. 24, and Jan. 31.
Servas was named CAA Diver of the Week on Jan. 10 and Jan. 24.
Pastris was named CAA Diver of the Week on Oct. 25 and Nov. 8, and Nov. 15.
Shema was named CAA Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 15.
