SPARKS, Md. — Delaware men's lacrosse defender Owen Grant, and attackman Tye Kurtz were named to USA Lacrosse Magazine's All-American team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Grant was named to the second-team, while Kurtz was named to the third-team.
For the third year in a row, Grant is named a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American. In 2021, the redshirt senior defender from Newmarket, Ontario was named a third team All-American, and was a second-team All-American in 2022. This season, Grant has caused 34 turnovers, which is two away from breaking his own program record he set last season at 35. He has caused a turnover in 14 of the Blue Hens 16 games, including seven games with at least three. On the offensive end, he's scored seven goals, and added one assist. He scored a goal in four of the Blue Hens seven conference games, and one goal in the CAA Tournament. For the third year in a row, Grant was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, the first player in CAA history to do so.
Kurtz has had one of the most productive offensive seasons in program history. The redshirt senior from Puslinch, Ontario leads the Blue Hens in goals with 49, and is tied for first in points with 76. Kurtz has registered at least two goals in 14 of the Blue Hens 16 games this season. He was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year, and is a Tewaaraton nominee. Earlier in the season, Kurtz broke the program record for goals, points, and man-up goals in a career, as well as consecutive games with at least a point. In addition, he was also named to the CAA All-Tournament team after Delaware clinched its second straight berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Both Kurtz and Grant have a chance to be drafted in the Premiere Lacrosse League draft, that takes place tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Blue Hens are set to host the Opening Round of the NCAA Tournament against Marist on Wednesday, May 10 at 7 p.m.
