LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Delaware women's soccer team dropped a road match against Liberty 1-0 on Sunday.

COACHES QUOTE

"I was proud of our team for the fight that we showed on the road against a very good program," head coach Kelly Lawrence said. "Every time we compete we have the opportunity to test ourselves, grow and build. Our group is very connected and i was proud of the togetherness in the face of adversity today."

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Mia Reed was credited with the decision. Reed and Kyla Burns split time in net for the second straight game. The two combined for five saves.
Sunday was Izzy Lane's first appearance of the season. The sophomore from Buckinghamshire, England led the Blue Hens in assists with six last season.
Lane was one of two Blue Hens to play in their first game of the season, along with Olivia Hoover and Cassandra Saldarini. It was Saldarini's first career game as a Blue Hen.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Flames got on the board first with a goal in the 16^th minute of the first half.
Liberty outshot Delaware 11-6 on the day, and had six shots on goal compared to the Blue Hens two. Five of the Blue Hens six shots came in the second half.

GAME NOTES

Sunday was the third ever meeting between the Flames and Blue Hens, and the first time in program history the Blue Hens played the Flames on the road.
