Four Blue Hens Contribute Goals in Win Over Saint Francis

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware women's soccer program picked up its third victory of the season over Saint Francis 4-1 on Thursday at Grant Stadium.

"I am really proud of the product we were able to put out on the field with multiple players contributing their first career goals. Super excited to turn around and play Richmond on Sunday."
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- UD out-shot the Red Flash 19-8 on the day including a 9-3 shots-on-goal advantage. Twelve of the Blue Hens 19 shots came in the second half.
- Mia Reed and Odaliana Gomez split time in net. The two combined for two saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lea Panagiotidis opened the game with a goal in the seventh minute of the first half. She found a crease in the Red Flash defense and struck the ball into the top left corner of the net.
- Katie Hackley and Kristin Wolf both added goals to extend the Blue Hens lead to 3-0 at the half. Hackley's goal was unassisted. Wolf received a cross from Izzy Lane, who then kicked the ball to the back of the net. The goal was Wolf's first goal of her Delaware career.
- Lane and Wolf would reconnect in the second half. Lane scored her first career goal off an assist from Wolf.
GAME NOTES
- Lane and Wolf led the team with three points a piece.
- All four goals were scored by four different players. All seven of the Blue Hens goals this were were scored by seven different athletes.
- The four goals is the most the program has scored since it defeated Delaware State 5-0 back on March 9, 2021.
- This was the eighth all time meeting between the Blue Hens and Red Flash. UD now holds a 7-1 record against Saint Francis.
- Delaware has now surpassed its win total from last season.
UP NEXT
- Delaware returns to Grand Stadium for a non-conference contest against Richmond on Sunday at 2 p.m. It will be the Blue Hens final non-conference game before heading into CAA play.
