Women's Soccer Drops Conference Contest Against Monmouth

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's soccer program dropped a Coastal Athletic Association contest by a score of 1-0 against Monmouth on Thursday at Grant Stadium.
With the loss, the Blue Hens overall record drops to 3-4-4, and 0-2-3 in conference play.

- "This was a gut check game for us. We felt that the matchup was a good one for us and lacked intention and communication in the game," head coach Kelly Lawrence said. "This was an uncharacteristic performance for us and one that we will learn and grow from but will also not dwell on. This is just a part of our story it's certainly not the story. We're excited to get back to work tomorrow and all eyes are on Northeastern on Grant on Thursday. Can't wait to see all of the fans back for the matchup."
- Offensively, the Blue Hens had seven shots coming from three different players, Lea Panagiotidis, Raychel Speicher, and Katie Hackley. Hackley and Speicher had two shots each, while Panagiotidis led the team with three.
- The Blue Hens had four corner kicks in Thursday's contest.
- Kyla Burns started, and played the full 90 minutes in net. She had five saves and allowed one goal.
- In the sixth minute of the first half, Speicher had an opportunity to score the game's first goal with a one on one chance with the goalkeeper. However, her shot was saved.
- The Hawks lone goal came in the seventh minute of the first half.
- The Blue Hens had a chance to tie the game off a corner kick in the 83rd minute. Lauren Elwell was able to find Hackley in the box, but her shot would go high of the net.
- Constanze Viehmann, Carly Binn, Caitlin St. Leger, and Panagiotidis played all 90 minutes of Thursday's contest
- Eighteen Blue Hens saw action in Thursday's game. All 18 players received at least 10 minutes of playing time
- Thursday was the 10th all time meeting between the Hawks and Blue Hens. The Hawks now own a 9-1 series lead, and are on a current four game winning streak over the Blue Hens
- The Blue Hens three game home streak continues with a game against Northeastern on Thursday, Sept. 28.
