TOWSON, Md. - The University of Delaware women's soccer program picked up a point in its opening Coastal Athletic Association game with a 0-0 tie against Towson on Thursday.

COACHES QUOTE

"This group is growing in its mentality and displayed unbelievable character," head coach Kelly Lawrence said. "We talk a lot about not worrying about mistakes only about the response and that was a highlight for us tonight. We take pride in getting a shutout and to get one on the road against a very good Towson team."

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Offensively, the Blue Hens had four total shots from four different players, Katie Hackley, Raychel Speicher, Caitlin St. Leger, and Sydni Wright.
Goalkeeper Mia Reed and the defense had a strong performance. Despite allowing 15 shots, Reed had four saves, and the defense didn't allow a goal. Reed is now 3-2-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first half, Reed had two big saves at the 41st and 43rd minute. She racked up two more saves in the 52nd minute of the second half.

GAME NOTES

Four Blue Hens played all 90 minutes in Thursday's game: Reed, Carly Binn, Julianna Bell, and Constanze Viehmann.
The Blue Hens have now picked up at least a point against Towson over the last three contest.
