Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Sweep Weekly Conference Accolades

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware swim & dive program sweep the weekly Coastal Athletic Association awards, the league announced on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Gavin Currie and Kevin Siegfried picked up the men's swimmer and diver of the week while Lauren Hartel and Alex Pastris earned the women's swimmer and diver of the week.
For Pastris, and Siegfried, this is the second time this season that the pair earned diver of the week. Both of them earned the honor back on Dec. 5.
Pastris turned in a pair of NCAA Zone cut performances to help post a team triumph over Drexel last Saturday. She took first place on the 3-meter board with a score of 294.00 and finished second in the 1-meter competition with a score of 277.05. Siegfried swept both boards in Delaware's victory over CAA foe Drexel last Saturday. The sophomore posted an NCAA Zone cut score of 306.53 to claim the 1-meter competition and captured the 3-meter competition with a score of 289.20.
For Currie, and Hartel, this is their first conference swimmer of the week accolade of the season.
Currie, the defending conference champion in the men's 200 backstroke, finished first in the 100 backstrokes with a time of 50.44 and touched the wall first in the 200 backstrokes with a time of 1:48.54. He was a member of the Blue Hens' first-place 200 medley relay team that recorded a winning time of 1:29.73. Currie set the top time in the CAA in the 200 back earlier this season at the WVU Invitational.
Hartel recorded a pair of first-place performances to help Delaware battle past Drexel, 180-120, last Saturday. The sophomore won the 1,000 free by 21 seconds with a time of 10:29.29 and captured the 500 free with a time of 5:07.10. Hartel set the top times in the CAA in both events earlier this season at the WVU Invitational.
The Blue Hens return to action on Jan. 20 to compete in a dual meet against Seton Hall on Saturday, Jan. 20.
