Women's Soccer Clinched CAA Tournament Spot with Tie over Northeastern

BROOKELINE, Mass. - The University of Delaware women's soccer team clinched a spot in the Coastal Athletic Association tournament with a 1-1 tie against Northeastern on Sunday.

The Blue Hens are in the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.

With the tie, the Blue Hens overall finished the regular season with a 6-6-6 and 4-2-4 in the CAA with 16 points.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

The Blue Hens offense had six shots and four on goal.
Kyla Burns played and started in all 90 minutes. She collected five saves on the day and allowed one goal.
Paige Kenton led the way with two shots while Maggie Groh, Sydni Wright, Caitlin St. Leger and Taysia Reid all had shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Northeastern scored a goal with less than six minutes left in the game, Maggie Groh tie the game with a clutch goal off a corner kick. Gabby Riley earned the assist.
The goal was Groh's third of the season, and the assist was Riley's third as well.

GAME NOTES

The last time UD has won a conference tournament game was back in 2011 against Hofstra.
The Blue Hens defense has allowed two goals in six conference road games this season.

UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will be the five seed in the CAA Tournament and will take on Hofstra on Thursday, Oct. 31 in the CAA Quarterfinals.
