Ragazzoni, Currie Earn Weekly CAA Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Gavin Currie and Angelica Ragazzoni from the University of Delaware men's and women's swimming & diving teams receive the Coastal Athletic Association's swimmer's of the week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
For Ragazzoni, this is her first honors with the Blue Hens. She swept the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the W&M Quad Meet, setting school records and personal bests in both events. The junior won the 100 back in a time of 53.98, which is the fifth-fastest nationally, and claimed the 200 back in a time of 1:58.08, which also ranked No. 5 in the nation thus far.
For Currie, her earns his first weekly honors of the season, and his first since Nov. 15, 2023. Currie, who owns the CAA all-time record in the 200 back, got his season off to a strong start by capturing the 200 back in the W&M Quad Meet with a time of 1:45.09. The mark is the second-fastest in the nation thus far. He finished second overall and best among CAA swimmers in the 100 back with a time of 48.46, which is 12th-fastest nationally. Currie also swam leadoff for UD's winning 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:26.71, which is third-fastest nationally.
UD is set to host Yale on Saturday, Oct. 26 at noon.
