MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Eight University of Delaware field hockey players were named to the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad, the NFHCA announced earlier this week.
Morgan Bradford, Julia Duffhuis, Genevieve Johnson, Kiki Oudshoorn, Sarah Rigual, Tetje Williamson, Amanda Cimillo, and Berber Bakermans, were among the 997 undergraduate student-athletes hailing from 80 esteemed institutions.
Sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, the NFHCA National Academic Squad program exalts the academic brilliance of undergraduate collegiate student-athletes. This prestigious acknowledgment is reserved for individuals who have achieved an outstanding cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current academic year, nominated by their devoted NFHCA member coaches.
Standing out among the remarkable institutions, the University of Louisville secured the highest number of National Academic Squad selections this year, boasting an impressive count of 22 student-athletes on the illustrious list. The Ohio State University and Dartmouth College each secured 21 placements.
Notably, 181 of these student-athletes received this distinguished honor for the fourth consecutive year, including Duffhuis. This is the third consecutive year on the list for Bradford, Oudshoorn, and Johnson.
