Women's Basketball Welcomes Drexel For A CAA/NGWSD/Play4Kay Showdown on Sunday

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team had six days to recover and prepare to play host to Drexel Sunday afternoon (Feb. 18) inside Bob Carpenter Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast live on FloHoops.

- Looking to be .500 in CAA action, Delaware is 9-14 on the year with a 5-6 mark in league play heading into Sunday's battle.
- The last time out for Delaware was last Sunday, Feb. 11, against the defending champions Monmouth.
- The Blue Hens celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with a 71-67 victory over the Hawks.
- Delaware saw a trio of double-digit scorers in Rebecca Demeke, Ande'a Cherisier and Grace Sundback.
- Demeke finished with 14 points, including 62.5 percent (5-8) from the field and 57.1 percent (4-7) from beyond the arc. T
- he freshman duo in Cherisier and Sundback, who have been taking on the starting role, chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
- Chloe Wilson led the Blue & Gold in rebounds with seven.

- Wilson ranks third in free throw attempts (116) and fourth in free throws made (85).
- Klarke Sconiers ranks seventh in blocks per game (1.13) and ninth in free throw percentage (76.3).
- Sydney Boone is eighth in steals per game (1.70) while Tara Cousins ranks ninth in three pointers per game (1.82).
- Drexel will enter Sunday's matchup sporting a 10-12 record and a 5-6 mark in league play.
- The Dragons' last time out was on Friday at Towson.
- Looking to snap its two-game skid, Drexel was able to take the Tigers into overtime before dropping a heartbreaking 51-48 road setback, extending the losing streak to three games.
- Chloe Hodges paced the Dragons with a game-high 23 points to go with 10 rebounds while Jasmine Valentine chipped in 11 points off the bench.
- In 11 CAA games played, Drexel's five conference wins include Hampton, Northeastern, UNCW, Hofstra and Delaware but suffered losses at the hands of Charleston, Monmouth, Stony Brook, William & Mary, North Carolina A&T and Towson.
- With seven games left in the regular season and looking to be .500 in CAA play, the Blue Hens are tasked to take on the Dragons for its 96th all-time meeting, 81st meeting in conference play and the fourth time head coaches Sarah Jenkins and Amy Mallon will be meeting since taking the reigns of their respective programs.
- Delaware holds the 52-43 record while sporting a 22-20 mark in Newark.
- The Blue Hens will look to stop its losing streak to the Dragons at three games while extending its current winning streak to two.
- This will be the final regular-season meeting between the two programs.
- Delaware and Drexel opened February's CAA slate against one another on Friday, Feb. 2 in Philadelphia.
- The Blue Hens ended up losing by a score of 53-49. Wilson finished the evening posting her 15th career, fourth on the season, double-double with a 17-point (8-of-14 FG) and 10-rebound outing.
- Drexel was paced by Amaris Baker's 13 points, four rebounds and four assists.
- Hodges followed with 10 points, four assists and two steals while Grace O'Neill pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
- The last time UD captured victory over Drexel on its homecourt was during the 2020-21 season when the Blue Hens claimed the 68-60 win on Feb. 12, 2021.
