Men's and Women's Swimming Competes at CSCAA National Invitational Championships

OCALA, Fla. - The University of Delaware men's and women's swimming & diving programs competed at the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championships last Thursday through Saturday.

The Blue Hens brought 12 athletes to compete at the National Invitational Championships: Addison Collins, Gavin Currie, DJ Fechtman, Max Moen, Matvei Namakonov and Dylan Smolders on the men's side along with Lauren Hartel, Anthi Lyra, Vcitoria Novinskiy, Brenna Boss, Mania Tasakou and Olivia Willemsen on the women's side.

The top performance of the week was Gavin Currie, who won the men's 200 back with a program record, CAA record, and NIC record setting time of 1:41.69.

Other top three finishers include:

Namakonov placed second in the 50 breast (24.13 seconds), 50 free (19.86 seconds, program record) and third in the 100 breast (52.62 seconds)
The men's 400 medley relay team of Currie, Namakonov, Fechtman and Collins (3:10.43)

Additionally, Namakonov broke the program record in the 100 free (43.55 seconds), and Novinskiy broke the program record in the 100 fly (53.93 seconds) and 200 back (1:58.76).

Toni Sabev is set to compete in the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. in the 100 and 200 breast from March 27-30.
