STONY BROOK, N.Y. - University of Delaware softball swept a weekend series from Stony Brook, winning the finale 4-3, and have now won 10 straight games. With the win, and UNCW's loss to Towson, Delaware is now tied atop the CAA standings with UNCW at 8-1 in conference play.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Morgan Hess went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double.
Veronica Diomede hit a two-run home run.
Emily Winburn pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts.
Julz Garber went 2-for-4.
Maddie Fife went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Gianna Costaro went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Sydney Shaffer went 1-for-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Blantz and Shaffer singled and walked to put two runners on for Costaro, who singled home the game's first run.
Winburn escaped a second and third, one-out jam in a scoreless first inning.
Delaware got two runs in the second on a two-run opposite field home run by Diomede.
Winburn faced three batters in the second, helped out by a double play turned by Julia Boyet on a line drive. She pitched a hitless third with a strikeout.
Hess led off the fourth inning with a home run to center field, putting Delaware up 4-0.
Winburn escaped a first and second jam in the bottom half by inducing two popouts to end the inning. She pitched a scoreless fifth with a strikeout.
Stony Brook got a run in the sixth.
After two quick outs in the bottom of the seventh, a walk and two hits brought the score to 4-3, but Winburn stranded the tying run at first with a strikeout to end the game.

GAME NOTES

Winburn threw her second complete game of the weekend, her sixth of the season, and 42nd of her career. Her 42 complete games tie her with Jen Ballier for seventh most in UD history.
Diomede's home run was the first of her career.
Hess hit her 32nd career home run and her third as a Blue Hen.
Garber has 11 multi-hit games this season and has recorded a hit in a career-best nine straight games.
Delaware's 10-game win streak is three shy of tying the program record of 13 done in 2000. It's their longest winning streak since also winning 10 straight from Feb. 8-Feb. 21, 2020.
