Lehman-Woodyard, Sharp Leads Track & Field at Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The University of Delaware track & field team were led by a pair of Blue Hens at the three-day Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell University (April 12-14) from Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, Pa. Alicia Lehman-Woodyard and Sarah Sharp found themselves rewriting the school's history book competing in the heptathlon on Friday and Saturday.

- Set to compete in four events to open day one, the duo combined for four new personal-best marks to set the tone.
- The first event of the hep was the 100m hurdles and Lehman-Woodyard won her heat with a time of 14.93 (second place overall) while Sharp ran a PR time of 15.70 to finish in fifth place.
- Next was the high jump where Lehman-Woodyard smashed last week's mark with a new PR of 1.64m for a second-place finish. Her new mark sits seventh in school history while Sharp leaped over a new PR bar of 1.40m.
- The duo hit the track for the 200m where we saw a 1-2 Blue Hen finish. Lehman-Woodyard won the event with a time of 25.69 and Sharp was right behind her with a time of 26.30.
- Day 1 of the hep was wrapped up with the shot put where Lehman-Woodyard threw a PR of 9.37m (sixth place) and Sharp threw for 8.14m (10th place).
- Through 4 events of the Heptathlon, Lehman-Woodyard sits in 2nd with 2,946 points while Sharp is in eighth place with 2,442 points.
- The heptathlon continued Saturday morning with the long jump. Lehman-Woodyard won the event with a leap of 5.41m while Sharp finished in ninth place with a mark of 4.58m.
- In the javelin, Lehman-Woodyard threw a career-best 28.06m to finish in fifth place while Sharp threw for 22.14m (ninth place).
- The heptathlon concluded with the 800m where Sharp won the event with a PR time of 2:29.66 and Lehman-Woodyard clocked a PR time of 2:45.11 (seventh place).
- Lehman-Woodyard finished the heptathlon racking up personal-best 4,576 points which now sits second in school history.Â
- Sharp also put her name in the record books, finishing with a personal-best 3,916 points, which sits eight in school history.
- This was both athletes first time competing in the heptathlon in their careers.
- Lehman-Woodyard wrote her name in the school history books twice while Sharp wrote her name once.
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will return to action next Friday for a two-day meet (April 19-20) at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by UVA. UD will then head to Baltimore, Md. to compete at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, hosted by Johns Hopkins University on Saturday (April 20).
