NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's basketball has added Ball State transfer Trent Middleton Jr. to the roster for the 2024-25 season, head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Tuesday. He comes to Newark with three years of eligibility remaining.
"Trent is a tough, heady point guard who is an extremely efficient basketball player," Ingelsby said. "He excelled last year in the minutes he played at Ball State and we feel his skill level and basketball IQ will further develop with more opportunity. He brings a toughness and competitive spirit to the court each day and we are excited about his development as he gets acclimated to UD."
The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native spent his inaugural collegiate season at Ball State, playing in 29 games with seven starts. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 18.7 minutes per game.
Prior to joining the Cardinals, the 6-3 guard spent the 2022-23 year at Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio where he helped lead the team to a 34-6 record. The team took home the 2023 Ohio Prep Conference Championship after Middleton Jr. posted a team-best 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He also contributed 12.0 points and 3.0 assists on average and shot 51-percent from the field.
He graduated high school from Philadelphia Math, Civics, and Sciences Charter School in 2022. There, he was named the Philadelphia Public League Player of the Year his senior year and was a two-time First Team All-Public League selection and city champion.
