Swain Scored First Goal as a Blue Hen in Win Over Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Delaware women's soccer team defeated Richmond by a score of 1-0 on Sunday.
ÂWith the win, the Blue Hens record improved to 1-4-1 on the season.
ON THE RECORD
"A complete team effort today. Everyone contributed to the win and the shutout. The leadership of this group has been very good and they came in with a very specific plan of how they wanted to attack the game. It's fantastic when that comes from the players", head coach Kelly Lawrence said. "The game changers off the bench and on the bench made the difference and we head home to the 302 with more conviction in what we're building here. One shout out to Amy Swain for getting her first goal as a Blue Hen."
"It was such a rewarding feeling being able to score my first goal as a Blue Hen," Amy Swain said. "IÂ wouldn't be able to do it without the support from my teammates and coaches who push me to be a better player every day. I'm excited that we were able to get our first win of the season today and ready to keep the momentum rolling into our next game."
HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Amy Swain scored her first goal as a Blue Hen in the second half. It is the graduate transfer's 17th goal of her career.

Swain, along with Caitlin St. Leger, Maggie Groh and Sydni Wright all recorded shots.

Kyla Burns played all 90 minutes in net and picked up the win. She had four saves on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED

The defense and Burns held the Spiders to three shots in the first half.

Swain's goal came in the 66th minute of the game, with an assist credited to Brooke Vogel. It is Vogel's first career point.
GAME NOTES

Sunday was the fifth all-time meeting between the Blue Hens and Spiders. The series is 2-2-1.

Delaware defeated Richmond on this date five years ago in Newark by a score of 3-0.
