Field Hockey Blanks Towson to Begin CAA Play

TOWSON, Md. – A fourth-quarter goal from Valentina Martorell was the difference maker in Friday's 1-0 win for University of Delaware field hockey over CAA rival Towson. The Blue Hens move to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league play as the Tigers dip to 3-4, 0-1 CAA.

- Martorell scored the lone goal of the game off an assist from Lulu Fulton.
- Cecile van Eijck (3-3) snags her first CAA victory of her career with one save.
- UD outshot TU 13-7 and 5-1 on target.
- Delaware also held the advantage in penalty corners 5-3.
- Delaware held the advantage the entire game in shots, including a 4-1 margin in the opening frame.
- Martorell finally cashed in with an open shot inside the circle about 14 yards out after taking a dish from Fulton during the 52nd minute.
