Second Half Goal From Viehmann Leads Women's Soccer to CAA Win

NORFOLK, Va. - A second half goal from Constanze Viehmann led the Blue Hens to a 1-0 victory over Coastal Athletic Association foe Hampton on Thursday.

With the win, the Blue Hens overall record is 4-4-2 and 2-0 in conference play. UD has won three straight games.

ON THE RECORD
"Getting three points on the road is never easy in the CAA. We're proud of the mentality to get the job done and we move on quickly to Sunday's game," head coach Kelly Lawrence said.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Kyla Burns started and played all 90 minutes in net. She had one save.
UD had 23 shots, compared to two shots for Hampton. Seven of the Blue Hens shots were on goal.
Maggie Groh led the Blue Hens in shots with five. Caitlin St. Leger and Paige Kenton also had four shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Viehmann's goal came off a throw in. The ball went past multiple players, finding Viehmann, and she found the back of the net.

GAME NOTES

Viehmann's goal is the first of the season and the third of her career.
The Blue Hens are 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2016.
Twelve Blue Hens contributed shots on the day.
Thursday was the third defensive shutout of the season for UD.
